Week 8 - Finalize the user flow [D4G: what wows]

Updated: Oct 15, 2023

As I reflect on this week's journey in the Feather View project, I'm using the "What? So what? Now what?" reflection model. It's been a week of balancing preparation for a presentation and the ongoing development of the Feather View website. These dual endeavors have provided fresh perspectives for me.

What?

This week, my focus was split between two main activities: preparing for a presentation on Thursday and progressing with my website design for the Feather View project. During the presentation preparation, I reviewed my miro and review the materials I had gathered. This allowed me to refine my presentation and be confident in what I had presented. I was also able to think through potential questions and address any potential issues that may arise.

Simultaneously, I made significant strides with the website, finalizing the user flow chart.

Also, I have my initial version of the project logo done. Also, I have my initial project logo version done. The design was inspired to combine a bird with a window. But I didn't want to frame the bird with the window, so I painted the bird's wings out specifically to blend in with the white background, and I wanted the bird to fly by the window freely and safely. I will keep develop the logo.

Unfortunately, my initial website platform choice, Wix, did not meet my customization requirements. This led me to explore Figma as an alternative to website creation. Although Figma requires more design work, I have to say it has given me more design freedom.

So what?

Preparation for the presentation helped me realize the importance of input and feedback in fine-tuning my project. The preparation process was essential to clarify my thoughts, which proved invaluable in refining my project's direction. I also sought insights from experts and Gabi to inspire fresh perspectives. I think my website design progress has been a bit delayed so far, as we only have a month to the final outcome. I feel like this flow chart is a map or guide for me to follow. With the received feedback and input, I can make some necessary adjustments and improvements.

Now what?

I didn't expect an unexpected insight this week. Until now, I had always understood presentations as a way for teachers to check our project development progress. However, during the preparation for this week's presentation, I realized that it was an opportunity for us to self-test and sort out our own perspectives and goals during the preparation process. Going forward, I will make better use of presentation opportunities in the future. I will use the feedback I receive to improve my work while sorting out my insights. In addition to this, the experience of changing from Wix to Figma reminded me of the importance of flexibility and adaptability in the face of unexpected challenges. Even though it wasted some time, I still feel I can deliver a high-quality project result on time. I will prepare for the unexpected and plan for contingencies. I will also take the time to keep a record of my progress on my blog. This will help me stay organized and motivated throughout the project.

Looking ahead, I'm excited to embrace the insights gained from this week's experiences. Feedback from experts and peers will undoubtedly improve the quality of the project. As I navigate through the evolving landscape of website design and project development, I'll carry forward the spirit of adaptability and openness to alternative solutions. I'm eager to see how it evolves in the coming weeks.
